For years, I was the answer to every question. The one who knew where things were, who to call, how it was really done. It felt like being needed. It was actually being trapped: the business only worked when I was working, and I couldn't step away for a long weekend without it wobbling.
The tools were supposed to help. Instead I had a login for everything, none of them talked to each other, and I was the glue holding it all together at 9pm.
The moment it clicked: I didn't have a business. I had a job that owned me, one I couldn't quit, sell, or hand to anyone else.
So I did what I'd done for Fortune 500 brands for two decades, but for myself. I got clear on where the time and money were going, protected the parts only I could do, and built systems to carry the rest. The busywork left. The judgment stayed mine. And for the first time, the business could run without me standing in the middle of it.
Now that's the whole job. I help service business owners get what's in their head out into systems, so the business runs on its own and they get their options back: take the week off, hand it down, or sell it for what it's worth.
